2. A preferred presentation method should be selected during the submission from the following options:
-
- Oral Presentation
- Poster Presentation
3. Abstracts can be amended in the online submission system before the submission deadline of 8 April 2025. After the submission deadline, all abstracts will be automatically considered to be fully submitted and will proceed to the peer review.
4. The number of submitted abstracts is limited to maximum of 2 abstracts as oral as a presenter and maximum of 3 total submissions as a presenter.
5. All abstracts will be reviewed by the ESMAC Scientific Committee, which will consider its formal aspects and content. The Committee will decide which abstracts will be accepted and may reconsider the final presentation type and topic selection.
6. Accepted abstracts of registered authors who have presented their work at the meeting will be made available to all meeting attendees in a special issue of the Gait & Posture Journal. Rejected abstracts will not be displayed or published. Please have your abstract checked for correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and formal structure. Any changes in the abstract will not be allowed after the submission deadline of 8 April 2025. The accepted abstract will be published in the Gait & Posture Journal as it was submitted. ESMAC reserves the right to edit abstracts if necessary before their publication on the ESMAC website or in the Gait & Posture Journal.
7. All presenting authors will be notified of the evaluation results by 23 May 2025.
8. All presenting authors are obliged to register for the meeting by 12 June 2025. Failure to register before this deadline will result in the withdrawal of your presentation from the programme and exclusion from the Abstract Book.
9. All presenting authors will be asked to declare a disclosure of their potential conflict of interest when submitting their abstract. Without the declaration submitted, the abstract cannot be accepted.

Abstract Submission Guidelines – Clinical Case Study
General Information & Deadlines
This session is allocated to clinical reasoning, triggered by clinical cases that are focused on a specific pathology or motor problem and/or focused on an uncommon clinically relevant assessment approach. This clinical case session creates the opportunity to share interesting observations that illustrate clinically relevant findings and/or treatment outcomes, that may inspire the audience about new research pathways and that may trigger future clinical studies on larger samples.
These cases should include patient specific data, but should also be supported by a literature review, to ensure a framework of evidence based clinical reasoning.
The clinical case abstracts will be judged on:
- Originality: To what extent does the clinical case represent a novel topic with respect to pathology, motor problem and/or assessment approach (technology/method/reporting)
- Methods: To what extent the patient history, assessment techniques and motion data are well-described)
- Conclusions: Clarity of the conclusions with links to literature and clinical decision making
- Relevance: to what extent does the clinical case lead to changes in specific aspects of movement analysis or clinical practice and may open up new pathways of clinical motion analysis and/or research.
These special guidelines are foreseen to submit clinical case abstracts for this ‘Evidence Based Clinical Reasoning’ session.
Abstracts MUST be submitted electronically via the online submission system by the given deadline of 8 April 2025. Abstracts received via e-mail or received after the deadline will not be accepted and therefore will not be considered for the programme or publication.
- The topic of the abstracts for clinical cases is automatically labeled as ‘clinical case‘.
- The presentation method for the clinical cases is automatically ORAL (one oral session will be planned during the conference)
